Honors and Lineage
editIs there a 23d Fighter Wing article ? What happened to the text of the 23d Fighter Wing ?
In 1954, HQ USAF bestowed upon each combat wing the history and honors of its similary designated World War II combat group.

The bestowal is temporary and conditional, but there is a 23d Wing article that includes the 23d Fighter Wing Lineagegeek (talk) 23:00, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Is this the correct spelling?
edit23d or 23rd? See: [1] Bzuk (talk) 13:05, 24 December 2007 (UTC).
I've been using just the "d" for 3d, 23d, 33d... etc... Bwmoll3 (talk) 19:46, 24 December 2007 (UTC) Small Text
Image copyright problem with Image:Flying Tigers.jpg
editThe image Image:Flying Tigers.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Does anyone know the answer to this? Wikicommons indicates USAF emblems in general are in the public domain under the USC because they are the creations of a federal employee in the course of his/her ordinary duties. However, USAF expressly claims a copyright to its emblems, with the copyright holder being the unit commander when a unit is active. This is a lot broader than this Lineagegeek (talk) 23:00, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- After a discussion of this issue on the WPMILHIST Talk page, emblems are the product of The United States Army Institute of Heraldry (not just the generic "government employee" exception. There is a specific template for this {{PD-USGov-Military-Army-USAIOH}}. Short answer, the emblem is copyrighted, but noncommercial use without permission is allowed --Lineagegeek (talk) 21:20, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

England AFB 70s 80s
editI was stationed at England AFB from 1978 to 1981. We had A7s switching to A10s. We had sharks teeth on the aircraft. There is no mention of this in this article. 2603:9001:6B00:8363:C18B:5E93:8744:5176 (talk) 17:54, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
