Too long

edit

Saw this at GAN, and from just a skim it feels way too long and overly detailed. No reason to have over 16,000 words for this. Wizardman 20:27, 27 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

No offense intended, but what details are "overly" done? This is a piece about a Civil War regiment containing descriptions of daily life, diet, uniforms, equipment and so forth given by soldiers who served in it--details that are often missing from similar articles on the subject, but which are usually prized by students of this (or any) conflict. Or is it the details on the battles that you object to? Perhaps the part about the first regimental colonel could use some redaction, but I don't see much else that's "overdone." To me, the more useful information, the better--what specific information here do you find to be of no value? - Ecjmartin (talk) 00:07, 28 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks...

No worries. Always happy to help in any small way I can. An impressive article in my opinion. Anotherclown (talk) 23:52, 9 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Needs a lot of work

edit

I have recently been revisiting this article as part of a project I am working on to create a book about the 33rd Alabama. In the years since I first put this article together I have been able to acquire a great deal of new information on this regiment, and I have noticed that vast portions of this article need a lot of work, corrections, etc. I do not have the time (or energy!) at present to make these corrections, but I plan to do so once I finish my book. In the meanwhile, I apologize for any inaccuracies that exist--I'm not a historian by profession or training, and I did the best with what I had at the time. -- James H.
