Not a "variant" of 40mm
edit37mm, originally known as "1.5 inch," gas guns have been around since the 1930s, long predating the military 40mm grenade. Some manufacturers' names include Lake Erie Chemical Company, R.F. Sedgley Company, Smith & Wesson and Defense Technologies. DefTech is still marketing S&W-made 37mm guns at present. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.175.221.121 (talk) 16:44, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
