editThere is also a 38th Street gang in Southeast San Diego. They are in the Shelltown/Southcrest neighborhoods. The heart of their territory lies at National Avenue and 38th Street. - Just as a side note: Shelltown 38th Street has no ties no LA's 38th Street gang. Varrio Shelltown has been around since the 60's, and has had many separate sets that have come and gone since then. Currently there are two active sets, Shelltown 38 (circa 80's) and Shelltown Gamma Boys (circa 70's). Both sets are notorious in San Diego, and many members of all Varrio Shelltown sets (active and defunct sets) can be found in California's Department of Corrections an Rehabilitation.71.10.230.146 (talk) 14:38, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- Members of the 38th street gang are often credited for inspiring a new dress style, it is said that in the 1940's during the time the members convicted of the sleepy lagoon murder were given oversized pants to be made fun of, but instead they held their pride by wearing the oversized pants creased up; this is the style that gangmembers being using ever since. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.84.255.70 (talk • contribs) 03:21, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Violent "Mexican" gang?
editCorrect me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the article refer to a 38th street gang in Los Angeles, Ca? Wouldn't Los Angeles be in the United States? Would the author be calling this a "Mexican" gang merely because of the race of the members? This is clearly a U.S. based gang. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.84.196.66 (talk) 06:23, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
