QSO B1030+585 → ? — This name is little used in google scholar. This isn't a quasar according to SIMBAD, so shouldn't be named using the quasar naming method. I suggest either 3C 244.1 or Ursa Major B as the name for this article. — 76.66.195.159 (talk) 10:39, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

• Judging by a quick sampling of the papers listed on SIMBAD, the designation 3C 244.1 comes up more often than UMa B (which would probably be expanded as "Ursa Major B" not "Ursae Majoris B", by analogy with e.g. "Sagittarius A", "Centaurus A", which do not use the genitive form of the constellation name), so I think the 3C designation is probably preferable, unless there is some rule about preferring forms with constellation names in radio galaxy articles, analogous to the preference for Bayer/Flamsteed designations among star/exoplanet articles. reference used is NED (using this name), but NED refuses to spit out any results using this name, so the reference is clearly false. This claims to be the first quasar discovered, but it isn't. SIMBAD says that it should be classed as a radio galaxy. Google scholar refuses to spit out any results for this name. Many hits result from the listed alternate name 3C 244.1. He claims that it's so close as to be in our galaxy and relatively slow moving... which is clearly wrong. SIMBAD's preferred name for this object is UMa B (Ursa Major B/Ursa Majoris B)

NED works just fine. Have you tried clicking By Name then entering the object name in the "Input Parameter" called "Object Name:", and then pressing the button Submit Query? ... said: Rursus (^mbork³) 19:30, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
