Charlevoix or La Malbaie
editIt seems that the summit is advertised at Charlevoix 2018 rather than La Malbaie, if you visit the web site. Hektor (talk) 17:21, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
Agenda and preparation section reads like a government press brief. The section should be more objective
editHere is an example: "Advancing gender equality and women's empowerment
Canadian and French thought leaders have stressed the need to achieve rapidly real gender equality across all economic sectors, by using modern, quantitative managerial tools that can help measure precisely gender pay gaps and thus inform corrective policy measures at both corporate and government level. Meeting in Paris, Montreal and Toronto in the weeks leading up to the Charlevoix summit, Canadian and European asset owners and policy makers agreed on the need to step up and assume more responsibility for the advancement of women's rights and other “related social parameters” across all assets classes[7] [8]
In that perspective, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce a distinct G7 sustainability initiative focusing specifically on gender diversity across global capital markets – for which “the Canada Pension Plan, OMERS, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan are each expected to pitch in [initially] $1 million apiece, with another $5 million from the federal government.”"
Invited guests
editIf anyone can please add the Invited guests that would be great.96.36.68.29 (talk) 18:51, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
"U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communiqué"
editThis "44th G7 summit" article is very detailed about Trump position about the Communiqué, but does not achieve to be NPOV as it does not say what is written in this communiqué.
Having POV pushing on one view is one thing, but wikipedia should reach NPOV. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.67.188.179 (talk) 09:15, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- The official communique is here after: both in French ( https://g7.gc.ca/fr/documents-officiels/communique-sommet-g7-charlevoix/ ) and in English ( https://g7.gc.ca/en/official-documents/charlevoix-g7-summit-communique/ )

Agenda and preparation section, official themes
editThe source lists 5 themes:
- Investing in growth that works for everyone;
- Preparing for jobs of the future;
- Advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment;
- Working together on climate change, oceans and clean energy; and
- Building a more peaceful and secure world.
At December 14 they were added to the article, as bullet points. diff Dec 14 At May 19 an official theme was removed and some additional themes, not in the official list, was added. double diff May 19 At May 30 the list of themes was restored to official list, and bullet points were changed to subsection headings. diff May 30 At June 8 a subsection "Readmission of Russia and the G8" was added, thou it was not an official theme. diff June 8 At June 10 some of the official themes, then empty subsections, were removed. diff June 10 I'll remove the Russia subsection, it is mentioned elsewhere, and restore the bullet point list. Leaving the still remaining non-empty subsections, since I can not determine how well their content reflect the intention of the official agenda. David A se (talk) 17:24, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
Dispute with Donald Trump
editThe Dispute with Donald Trump section fails to provide any details on the dispute.--Bo Basil (talk) 18:06, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
Lede
editDo you think that the lede section could be arranged to describe what the "G7 summit" is about? I see a list of seven countries who met, not eight, and a couple of leaders mentioned... why? 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 07:50, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- I have noticed that the maintenance tag has been removed twice, yet none of these editors seem interested in either fixing the problem as I described it, or even entering into a discussion about it which I have started here? 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 18:18, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- Do you have a suggestion? I think a lede should begin with a definition. I.e. naming the wider group in which this item belongs, and specifying what differentiate this item from the rest of the group. (E.g. "A giraffe is an ungulate with a really long neck", "An ungulate is a mammal with hoofs", "A mammal is an animal that ...".) Then this article should start something like "The 44th G7 summit is a G7 summit that was held in June 2018 in La Malbaie, Canada". Very close to the current lede. A problem is linking the wider group. There is no G7 summit article, but there are G7 and Summit (meeting). A link to G7 first appears in the 2nd paragraph, and Summit (meeting) isn't linked to at all. Maybe you want something about the agenda after that? David A se (talk) 20:24, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, it would seem that to document an event, we would answer "who, what, when, where, why?" The lede adequately addresses everything but "why?" which becomes a burning question... so a bunch of politicians met somewhere, why should we care? The agenda should be prominent. 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 02:20, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
