Forrest Gump was a Raider
editOnly reference I can find is the movie alone. In the scene where Gump and Bubba report to 2LT Dan in Viet Nam the sign at the base indicates the unit. Right after the ice cream scene in the hospital, during mail call, one can read the addresses on Gump's returned letters he wrote to Jenny. Gump also wears the 2/47 DUI on his uniforms, as well as the Octofoil.

This Article is currently stating that Forrest Gump was in B 2/47. I have not watched the movie in a good long while, and, at this time, do not have the opportunity to do so, so I cannot verify, personally, if this is the case, and, therefore, will make NO CHANGE to the article. I should state, for the record, that in 2009, I underwent Basic Combat Training with 1st Platoon, B Company 2/47 (Bulldogs!! REPRESENT!). If the information presented in this article is inaccurate, it should be corrected. If the information in the article on Forrest Gump is inaccurate, IT should be corrected. There is NO REASON for disparity here. -- 107.7.147.20 (talk) 06:04, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

First Infantry troops across the Remagen Bridge
editThe 310th Infantry Regiment also claims this fact; according to "The story of the 310th infantry regiment, 78th Infantry division in the war against Germany, 1942-1945" The 1st Battalion of the 310th Infantry Regiment was already in Remagen's town square and prepared to cross around midnight of the 7th. And then goes on to say, "Sergeant James L. Heaton of Company B was the first infantryman of the 310th to set foot on the Rhine's east bank. " The 1st Battalion of the 310th Infantry Regiment crossed at 4:30 AM on March 8th. So which claim is the correct one? Smearsett21 (talk) 10:45, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
