Results of 1804 Election

edit

The information recorded in Journals of the House of Assembly of Lower Canada ..., John Neilson (1805) shows John Richardson [1] & J. Marie Mondelet [2] elected in the Easterly Ward of Montreal and James McGill [3] and Louis Chaboillez [4] elected in the Westerly Ward in 1804. This seems to contradict the entries for these members at the Assemblée nationale du Québec (linked above) and the Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online, usually reliable sources. The current entries in the article are consistent with the latter two sources. --Big_iron 10:17, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Since the same information as recorded in French in the Journals of the House of Assembly agrees with the Assemblée nationale du Québec and the Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online and the returning officer appears to have been French-speaking, it is reasonable to conclude that the English version of this content in the first document was in error and so the current entries in our article are correct. --Big_iron 10:33, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
