Need to change article NAME !
editThe name for this article is both incorrect and inconsistent with Wikipedia editorial practice.
The correct name for this article should be: 6"/47 Mark 16 This indicates it is a gun with a caliber of 6", 47 calibers in length, and that it is the 16th design in the 6" series of guns. [1]
There are two variants of this design, the original, and a slightly improved versions, these are known specifically as the 6"/47 Mark 16 Mod 0 and the 6"/47 Mark 16 Mod 1. The "Mod" part of the name should not be in the article title but should be addressed in the body of the article.
Also, no reference to the turret should be made in the title. US Navy guns have two separate designations systems, one for the gun itself, the other for the turret it is mounted in. Confusingly, some turrets are known by a model "Mark" number while others are only known by the name of the ship class they were associated with. The 6"/47 Mark 16 is the designation for the gun, not the turret. The turrets are named according to the class of cruiser they were on, and the turrets of the various classes, despite mounting the same gun, were slightly different, and differed in weight by as much as 20 tons.
While I trust that the "slang" sailor-speak name given by whoever wrote this is probably how it was commonly referred to, it is technically incorrect and not in conformity with US Navy documentation, and it also differs from all the other US naval gun entries on Wikipedia. Thank you for your service, whoever you were, but this needs clean up.

6"/47 caliber Mark 16 gun → 6"/47 caliber gun – There was also a 6"/47 caliber Mark 17 gun, there is no need to two separate articles. Pennsy22 (talk) 04:45, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- Makes good sense to me; no similar named weapons. No objections here. GraemeLeggett (talk) 13:03, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- Change name. Makes sense to me too. As you say, the article covers the Mk 16, the Mk 16DP and the Mk 17, and the number of calibres is the discriminator from other 6" guns. Kind regards, Cavalryman V31 (talk) 22:09, 1 September 2017 (UTC).
