Bracelet

edit

There has been a bracelet made, which I am wearing, that says "long live the king" and some thai messages. Maybe we should make somethjing on this- the bracelets aer VERY popular, with almost everyone in thailand wearing them.

By all means, take a picture of the bracelet on your wrist, upload it to the commons and provide a translation of what it says. Wisekwai 17:44, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Title

edit

The article title is incorrectly capitalized. By Wikipedia standards it should be: Bhumibol Adulyadej's 60th anniversary celebrations, but I wonder if there is a better title that could be used? I did a quick look around the web and there doesn't seem to be any official name (at least in English) for the celebrations. I offer the following suggestions of simpler article names:

  • 60th anniversary of Bhumibol Adulyadej's accession to the throne might make it clearer what anniversary is being celebrated
  • 60th anniversary of the accession of Bhumibol Adulyadej is a bit shorter and avoids the awkward possessive
  • Diamond Jubilee of King Bhumibol Adulyadej is simpler still, but I don't know if the term Diamond Jubilee is too Eurocentric

Personally, I'm not too hung up on the name either way, but I do support shorter and simpler whenever possible. Thanks for putting thought into this. Wisekwai 18:21, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
There actually is an official name for the celebration The Sixtieth Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne. Is it possible to change the title of the article? --Mreult 03:59, 22 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Outside of Thailand, His Majesty is Bhumibol Adulyadej. The name is fine the way it is, I think. -Wisekwai 04:22, 22 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd opt for the 'Diamond Jubilee' usage. GoodDay (talk) 18:56, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

[1] Quite a bit of information from the old revision was lost, and should be re-edited into the article. Paul_012 (talk) 19:12, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Paul 012, I agree. I noted the changes this morning, and was a bit concerned about it. I note the last entry seems to end in mid-sentence. So, I'm holding out the assumption that YURiN wasn't done with the work. I'd have hoped he would have set up any new pages, completely, beforehand...but apparently not. I was planning to see where it went over the next 24 hours or so, and then maybe have to do something to fix it. - Thaimoss 23:39, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
