RE: BUILDING NAME CHANGE
In November 2011, the management team at First Allied Securities, Inc., (First Allied) in partnership with Lovell Minnick Partners (Lovell Minnick), acquired First Allied from Advanced Equities Financial Corp. (Advanced Equities).
As Advanced Equities is no longer affiliated with First Allied, the “Advanced Equities Plaza” sign on the glass above the building’s entrance, as well as the signs on the north and east faces of the building, will be removed. The building is being renamed First Allied Plaza and replacement signs will be installed in the coming weeks.
Should you have any questions regarding the building name change, please do not hesitate to contact Mary Cochran at 619-702-0655 or m.cochran@wereldhaveusa.com.
- Comment Lianaharlan, it would be easiest if there were a published source (not an email, but a news source or official web page or something) that could be cited in the article for this name change. I was not able to find one. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:50, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- Comment JHunterJ, can't someone call Mary directly? I doubt anyone will publish something online, because the building does not have a website and I'm sure San Diego has more important things to report on. The result of the move request was: not moved. No prejudice against a new nomination if it can be shown that the proposed title has begun to be used in independent reliable sources. Jenks24 (talk) 20:00, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Advanced Equities Plaza → First Allied Plaza – Here is the updated website for the building (along with the new name): http://firstalliedplaza.com. Lianaharlan (talk) 18:10, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
I did find an article supporting the splitoff of the company First Allied from Advanced Equities. I added it to the article, and I clarified the building's history a little. As for the name change, it may have to await a formal announcement from the folks at First Allied. I'll keep looking in case they have already made one. Even a press release would do IMO. --MelanieN (talk) 18:46, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- I've made some more additions and changes to the article, but I still can't find a single reference to First Allied Plaza in a reliable source (or any source except the building's website for that matter). Kind of a tough call. Clearly the building's management has started using the name First Allied Plaza, but there doesn't seem to have been any announcement of the change to the public that I can find. --MelanieN (talk) 19:05, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
One more reference to the name change (not a press release): http://www.655westbroadway.info/toc.cfm Lianaharlan (talk) 09:27, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
- That leads to the identical webpage as the other link you posted. As far as I can see, the only thing different is the url. --MelanieN (talk) 03:04, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. No, we need far more than a press release. Please read WP:official names as an introduction, and then the article naming policy. Andrewa (talk) 06:26, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Advanced Equities Plaza → First Allied Plaza – The new name is referenced in this article about the building: http://www.sdbj.com/news/2013/mar/22/downtown-office-tower-sold-1408m/ Lianaharlan (talk) 18:19, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
- Comment I see that this is the fourth time you have attempted to make this move. Also that this is the only article you ever edit here; you are what we call a Special Purpose Account for this building. You did finally come up with one item using the new name in an Independent Reliable Source; the San Diego Business Journal qualifies. In a separate search of the news I found no other such references. I found many more references to the current name of the article, Advanced Equities Plaza, [2], but they are older. So I am torn: the old name has more use, but the new name has current use. I'm inclined to Endorse the move; after all, you were told that the criterion is usage by independent sources.
This is a weak endorse since there is only one such reference to be found, but that one reference does provide confirmation of the new name. --MelanieN (talk) 15:06, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- My endorsement is no longer weak thanks to Dohn Joe's superior searching. --MelanieN (talk) 17:21, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- Support. Per the above source, plus the San Diego Daily Transcript, another S.D. Business Journal article, and energystar.gov, a government website. The nominator has been persistent, but this time I think there's enough evidence to go ahead with the move. Dohn joe (talk) 16:50, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
