787 series → 787 series train – For disambiguation. • I suggest the possibility of redirecting instead to 787 series (JR Kyushu) and likewise 737 series (JR Hokkaido) (and the retired 717 series to 717 series (JR Kyushu)) per existing 207 series articles, WP:TIJ is of relevance. Exp691 (talk) 00:50, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

This points to a much wider issue: the naming scheme used for JR train articles leads to ambiguity and worked much better (even if not very well) when Wikipedia was considerably smaller than it is now. A while ago, I proposed that all JR train articles follow a clearer naming scheme (e.g. <operator> <train name>) similar to how articles for other operators' trains are named, but it never picked up any steam.
