The result of the move request was: Moved to 787 series (JR Kyushu). Consensus on the alternate proposed title. – robertsky (talk) 14:57, 26 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

787 series787 series train – For disambiguation. The 787 series is a series of Boeing airplanes, including the 787-8, 787-9, 787-10, BBJ 787-8, BBJ 787-9, etc. The pageview ratio between the two articles is around 300:1 in favor of the airplane series. — BarrelProof (talk) 05:18, 12 March 2024 (UTC) — Relisting.  — Amakuru (talk) 13:28, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

This points to a much wider issue: the naming scheme used for JR train articles leads to ambiguity and worked much better (even if not very well) when Wikipedia was considerably smaller than it is now. A while ago, I proposed that all JR train articles follow a clearer naming scheme (e.g. <operator> <train name>) similar to how articles for other operators' trains are named, but it never picked up any steam.
