Chen Tanqiu (陳潭秋) was killed by Sheng Shih-ts’ai/Sheng Shicai in 1943. Why he was listed in Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in 1945? --Vietlong (talk) 11:28, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Fate of Chen Tanqiu

Although Chen Tanqiu was executed in 1943, he was indeed elected to the Central Committee in 1945. The Biographical Dictionary of Republican China (Boorman et al. [1972], p. 240) notes that the execution of Chen, Lin Jilu, and Mao Zemin (Mao Zedong's brother) was not announced at the time it occurred, and the other cadres present at the time were all imprisoned. Uncertain of Chen's fate, the 7th Congress went ahead and elected him to the Central Committee. It was probably not until 1946, when the surviving cadres were allowed to return to Yen'an, that the Party learned of the deaths of Chen and the others. Provenance and form of the 7th central committee member list

The People's Daily website cited on this page does not list the members of the 7th central committee so this list needs a source. It is also odd that the names on this list were all in traditional characters; I've converted these into simplified characters, since these are usually used for all of these people, including the English and Chinese wikipedia articles on these figures.
