From feedback in talkpage of Xtrememachineuk (talk), the result was merge into A&P Group. -- Xtrememachineuk (talk) 20:53, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am proposing that the Austin & Pickersgill article be merged into this article as part of the company's history. Xtrememachineuk (talk) 00:57, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

De-Merger Needed

edit

The merger is nonsense and completely misrepresents the history of what is now the A&P Group.

In an A&P Group context the whole of the corporate history is either wrong or irrelevant (ie relates to Austin & Pickersgill). Although it says little in detail on A&P Group's website about it's history, what it does say - "Originally founded as a centre of expertise in shipyard design and construction in 1971" - is a good starting point. The closest that Austin & Pickersgill ever was to what is now A&P Group was that they owned 50% when it was formed in 1971 as A&P-Appledore International. Both companies merit pages of their own.

There is no point in rewriting the current page - indeed, it is hardly feasible. A demerger is essential. If agreed, I am happy to attempt to disentangle and fill out the two corporate history sections (the rest splits fairly neatly as currently edited and needs little further tweaking).

Reactions please! Davidships (talk) 16:34, 1 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have stripped out the irrelevant material form this page and added the right company history. Later today I will add the relevant Austin & Pickersgill material into that article, from whence it was mostly removed when the two articles were erroneously merged.
