  • At Magdalene College, Cambridge there is a Benson court, as well as a Beson Hall. Could these have been named in honour of Mr. Benson?

Thank you

Thank you for the redirect from Arthur Christopher Benson to A C Benson. I would never have found the way myself. Take care, Kushal. --who is kushal? 22:29, 15 December 2006 (UTC) PS: Do you think that From a College Window should be an article itself? Should there be a request for it?Reply

A Stub

edit

This article is no more than a stub. For example, it says rather evasively that A. C. Benson "was associated with Eton College and Magdalene College of Cambridge University". As far as I'm aware he was head of English at Eton and later became Master of Magdalene, but I'm not sure of the details. More information is needed. Norvo 23:45, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Benson was one of six children of Edward White Benson (Archbishop of Canterbury, 1882–96) and his lesbian wife Mary, sister of the philosopher Henry Sidgwick." - As the great niece of Mary Sidgwick I would like documendation to prove that she was "lesbian." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.104.231.235 (talk) 21:28, 1 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

There is a list of Colonial Governors of Northern Rhodesia including my grandfather Sir Arthur Edward Trevor Benson and his name has been wrongly linked to Sir Arthur Christopher Benson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.252.251 (talk) 21:01, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Further Information

edit

In Wade Davis' book Into the Silence, Arthur Benson is named as George Mallory's tutor and mentor at Magdalene. George Mallory was one of the two first men to attempt to scale Mt. Everest and who died in the attempt. tonicw (talk) 00:03, 26 December 2012 (UTC)tonicwReply

Why LGBT?

edit

Why is he in the category English LGBT poets? There's nothing in the article that would support that. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 18:40, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
