Regarding border crossings

There are two border crossings. One is the Slovenian one, Gruškovje, the other is the Croatian one, Macelj. The A4 highway will go through Gruškovje to the Croatian border. At the Croatian border, the A2 will begin, go through Macelj and continue towards Zagreb. I know we are talking about a difference of mere hundreds of metres, but there is a difference nonetheless, and DARS accurately calls the last section "MMP (mednarodni mejni prehod) Gruškovje - državna meja z Republiko Hrvaško", meaning "Gruškovje border crossing - state border with the Republic of Croatia". edolen1 (talk) 17:06, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

It is one border crossing with two checkpoints. Since Wikipedia does not have an established policy on naming border checkpoints I believe we should use both names, like Macelj – Gruškovje or Gruškovje – Macelj. Else the readers might be confused, thinking that A2 (Croatia) and A4 (Slovenia) end at different border crossings and don't connect. Admiral Norton ^(talk) 23:30, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

You're right, it's one border crossing with two checkpoints, I was using inappropriate terminology, however the two sections are defined by the Slovenian checkpoint, not the Croatian one. I think that when mentioning sections, we should keep with only the Slovenian checkpoint, as DARS does, but as a general rule sa that the motorway goes from Maribor to the Gruškovje/Macelj border crossing. 89.142.117.26 (talk) 12:23, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Why not leave it out altogether? It seems there is a section between the village Gruškovje and the actual border crossing, so I believe we should write: Ptuj - Gruškovje and Gruškovje - Croatian border to eliminate both the problems created by the Gruškovje town/Gruškovje border crossing ambiguity. Thanks for the advice, but I am using a shared computer and cannot bother logging in every time, hehe. Anyways, we are not talking about an ambiguity because the village plays no role in this matter as it is only the source for the name of the border crossing. The section is 600 metres long and is between the Slovenian checkpoint and the actual border itself. We could probably even regard it simply as a subsection of the Draženci - Gruškovje section if it wasn't for the fact that it will be completed before the rest. However I agree with you, we could just not mention that Gruškovje is a border crossing, I only added that for clarity, since Gruškovje is significant purely as a checkpoint. 89.142.122.26 (talk) 15:41, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
