editWhy are people putting info about stuff called 88 other than the year on this article?? Georgia guy 00:33, 9 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Should we add the nazi refference 88=HH: Heil Hitler?
Refferring to the 88=HH "Heil Hitler," I think we should. It's been used by gangs and in anti-semetic crimes, so it's not just "trivia." Irish Pearl 17:30, 19 Jan 2007
- I'd need to dig more to find a good source on it, but "88" sounds like "byebye" in Chinese, and so is used as such in Chinese netspeak (see also: Crazy 88). This sometimes leads to some misunderstandings where Chinese people using it casually are mistaken for neo-Nazis. --Delirium 19:56, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- The "heil hitler" thing shouldn't be included - that's to do with symbolism related to the number, this article is about the year. Hanii (talk) 21:29, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- As it says at the top of the article, For other uses, see 88 (number). That's where you'll find info about the "Heil Hitler" connotation. /Ludde23 Talk Contrib 08:45, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
