Best Fiction

edit

Best Fiction is currently a Japanese album, probably should be a dab page. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:11, 9 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

ALA Best Fiction for Young AdultsBest Fiction for Young Adults – As far as I know, the title of a published work is ordinarily used directly as the title of a Wikipedia article about the published work, without prefixing it with the name of the author or publisher. The suggested target title already redirects here (and always has since the day the article was created more than a decade ago), so adding "ALA" does not seem necessary for disambiguation purposes. — BarrelProof (talk) 17:32, 29 November 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Kiwiz1338 (talk) 18:05, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oppose, I think this might add more confusion to make it seem like a list curated by Wikipedia editors rather than a list curated by the American Library Association. I see your point, and I could be swayed, but I think the potential confusion for reader is stronger than any benefit which may be provided by removing the disambiguation. aaronneallucas (talk) 20:37, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
As far as I can tell, the title of a published work is ordinarily used (in title case) as the title of the Wikipedia article about it, without including the name of the author or publisher in the title (unless as a disambiguator if there is more than one published work discussed on Wikipedia with the same title). This is typically done without regard to the objective accuracy of the title, as with The Greatest Canadian, "Best Song Ever", The Greatest Trade Ever, The Greatest Show on Turf, The Biggest Bundle of Them All, The Worst...Album in the World...Ever...EVER!, The Ugliest Woman in the World, 100 Best Australian Albums, 100 Best Companies to Work For, 100 Best Workplaces in Europe, The 100 Greatest Films of Argentine Cinema, etc. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:47, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Agree per BarrelProof's reasoning. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 02:50, 12 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Support. My initial gut reaction was to share aaronneallucas' concerns, but BarrelProof's rebuttal was sufficient to assuage those concerns for me. As a result, I feel like it's sensible to omit the publisher's name and stick with the actual title of the list. ModernDayTrilobite (talkcontribs) 15:43, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
