Last RS-1s
editThe last RS-1s built were on two different Alco shop orders. Shop order #S3283 covered 15 units that were built by Alco between January 1957 and May 1958. The units covered were NdeM #5639-5651 and GTW #1950-1951. The GTW units have the distinction of being the last RS-1s built for a U. S. railroad and the first Phase III RS-1s. Alco Shop order #S3299 was for the last dozen RS-1s built by Alco for the NdeM as #5652-5663. Shop order #3299 was built between May 1958 and March 1960. NdeM #5663 was the last RS-1 built in March 1960 ending the RS-1s long 19 year production run. All data from Extra 2200 South. --SSW9389 20:24, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
"Most locomotives"?
editIt says "most locomotives manufactured since then have followed this same basic configuration". I find this highly dubious...how many cab-and-hood locomotives do you see in Europe, diesel or otherwise? And most of the locomotives I see around here are Amtrak cab locomotives. I would call that a strongly American-centric statement, and not sure how accurate it is at that. if I knew how to tag it as dubious", I would..45Colt 20:00, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Remaining RS-1s
editI happen to know that there's still ALCO RS-1 (0673) at the Danbury Railway Museum. Is there any evidence that other New Haven Railroad RS-1s still exist? ---------User:DanTD (talk) 03:33, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
Number 0670 is owned by the Central New England Railroad, it's currently stored out of service in Scantic because of a missing part but there are long term plans to return it to service. It was in use for freight service as recently as 2010. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 17:02, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
Proposed Merger
editI discovered today that a page exists for the ALCO RSC-1, of which only 4 were produced. I don't believe it was notable enough to justify its own page and should instead be merged into this article. The RSC-1 article is only two sentences and cannot stand as its own article.
