Removal of sister schools section

edit

The article title is "AMA Computer University," and the opening paragraph suggests this is a single school in Quezon City. As such, the section on sister schools is not well suited to this article, and should be removed. Perhaps that opening sentence is wrong, in which case an expanded explanation of what constitutes the university is needed. While AMA UC has a corporate owner (AMA ES) with many different business interests, those should be covered in an article about AMA ES, not about AMA UC. -Agyle 01:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The offical AMAUC site is up again, and it describes AMACU as not a university in Quezon City, but "the first and largest ICT University in Asia with an annual student population of 150,000 and more than 200 campuses in the Philippines and other parts of the world." I think referring to their dubious non-Quezon branches (several were closed when found to be deficient) as part of AMACU is a deceptive marketing claim more than an accurate reflection of reality. However, if it's true in some verifiable objective sense (other than AMA's advertising materials), then it should be included in this article. Such a change would change the scope of the article considerably. -Agyle 00:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removal of Celebrity Endorsers and AMA'ers section

edit

The content of this section provides no references. If references can be found, I would propose moving "celebrity endorsers" into a section entitled "Marketing," with text explaining how celebrity endorsers are used in the marketing of the university. Wikipedia's style guidelines generally want text explaining a list, not just a list. -Agyle 01:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's not clear what "AMA'ers" means; if it means AMA Computer University (or its predecessor AMACC in Quezon City) graduates, that should be specified. If they are related to AMA in general, rather than AMA Computer University, I don't think they belong in this article. Again, an introductory paragraph explaining the list would be helpful, and if it represents a list of famous graduates, perhaps it should be moved to a "Notable Alumni" section. Brief text summarizing their accomplishments would also seem appropriate. -Agyle 01:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Official AMA sites down

edit

At least from my location in the US, http://www.ama-university.com and http://www.amaes.edu.ph/ return "No web site is configured at this address." I assume this is a temporary condition, and the dead link tags I added in the "External links" section should be removed when they are up again. -Agyle 01:57, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The sites are up now, and I removed the "dead link" templates from the article. -Agyle 00:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please Explain

edit

Please explain this sentence

These programs are under strict monitoring of the Philippine Department of Education because AMA has been know to cheat on its customers and to society.

Please explain and expand
-Why is it known to 'cheat' on the system?
How does it affect employability for Graduates from the AMA System
-Are AMA Graduates 'blacklisted' from most or some companies?

I am removing the sentence. It cites no source, seems inflammatory, and seems misplaced under the "St. Augustine International School" section, while apparently referring to AMA programs in general. Controversies about the school, documented in reliable sources, are fine in the article, but the text should provide details and sources. -Agyle 19:35, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

American League of Colleges and Universities (ALOCU)

edit

There are no citations for the entry on the "American League of Colleges and Universities (ALOCU)".

At one point the "A" in the acronym "ALOCU" was purported to stand for "Asian" and not "American".

If "ALOCU" is not a fictional organization, please provide a reference to their website, or at least supply a business address.

Otherwise the entry should be struck from the record and AMA Computer University should be investigated for misrepresentation and fraud.

Visit http://www.chea.org/search/search.asp or http://www.ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.asp and notice that "ALOCU" is not listed as an Institutional Accreditor or an Institutional Accrediting Agency in the United States. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.93.130.216 (talk) 06:23, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Too Much Information

edit

This article has too much information. Do people actualy want to know in detail about this "Dataline" issue? What does "Hello Garci" have to do with this? Dasmarinas take-over?! Land lease disputes?! Labor issues?! See Mapua in contrast. RasterBlaster (talk) 23:48, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
