Hi there! After reviewing this article, I'm failing its Good Article nomination per the checklist above. The biggest problem that I see this article facing in terms of becoming a GA is that it doesn't at all fulfill criterion 3A; that is, it's not broad in its coverage of the topic. While an article on a Sanmarinese football club doesn't have to cover all the minutiae of the team's history, I feel there must be more that can be said beyond a few brief intro paragraphs and a listing of current players and coaches. For example, there's got to be some historical information you could include: well-known matches and players from the past, information on the club's formation, etc. The article simply doesn't have enough breadth. Take a look at some of the other GAs under the "Sports teams" section at the Good Article page for an example of what sort of information you could include.
Also, there are currently no references. Every Wikipedia article needs references to reliable sources, especially in the case of material that is likely to be challenged. Frankly, everything in the article right now seems fairly uncontroversial, but as you expand it, you'll need to provide references.
Finally, and this isn't a requirement for GA status, it'd be great if there were some free use images in the article. Maybe a picture of the team playing a match?
If you'd like to contest this decision, you can always take the article to Good Article reassessment. If you have any questions, please contact me via my talk page. Thanks for your work so far on this article. Cheers! Esrever 22:43, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Copyedit
editI have copyedited this article to the best of my ability, but have numerous concerns to raise. In general I do not think it is of a GA-standard. I have linked to relevant policy where possible. From the top:
- The lead is far too short, even for an article of this length
- There are many short stubby paragraphs, which are discouraged. Each paragraph should be either expanded with additional information, merged with another paragraph, or removed entirely.
- done Several paragraphs in the "History" section appear to contradict each other, to the extent that I have no choice but to add a
{{contradict}}
tag. This is obviously a serious concern. - Within "History" particularly, very little context is given. The team is described going up the leagues, down the leagues. Up the leagues, down the leagues. A balance must be found - not every one of the team's ups and downs needs be described in painful detail, but those fortune changes that are indicated should be clearly explained in terms that the layman can understand. As someone not well acquainted with football generally, let alone the Italian football leagues, I am completely lost for much of the history section.
- There is a general lack of references in the History section. Don't assume that just because it's fortunes are common knowledge they don't need to be reliably sourced.
- done The phrases "San Marino Calcio" and "A C San Marino" are horribly overused. Don't be afraid of replacing some or even most of them with "the team", "the squad", etc.
- I have delinked but not removed the redlinked names of the manager and chairman from the "History" section but, in general, redlinked names are not notable enough to warrant inclusion. If a name cannot be bluelinked in an article, it should not usually appear at all unless failing to do so would be a serious ommission. So while the current manager's name should be included, whether or not it's a bluelink, past managers and chairmen do not usually merit such treatment.
- you done that Flag icons are not to be used in the manner shown here. They are used only where they provide substantial useful information, not just decoration.
- only blelinks included Note that when the flags are removed, the "Notable players" section takes on the appearance of trivia, which is prohibited. Certainly no non-bluelinked players are "notable" enough to warrant inclusion.
- The Italian wikipedia is not a reliable source. Do not reference from it
- Other than that, every one of your references are to the club's official website. References to primary sources must be used with extreme care. At the moment the article does not include any analysis or evaluation, which is a failing - critical evaluation of why its fortune kept changing or what prompted such-and-such a change. However, when it does so, it should not be referenced from the club website but instead from independent secondary sources. Be careful to avoid original research or synthesis when writing such analysis.
In general the article makes an acceptable start, but needs a lot of expansion and cleanup before it is suitable for GA or FA. For an idea of what you should be working towards, keep looking at the wikipedia's football Featured articles, which are listed at Wikipedia:FA#Sport and recreation. They will give you an idea of what you should be aiming for. Best of luck, Happy‑melon 10:26, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

In 1988 A.C. San Marino became a joint–stock company, and changed its name from A.C. San Marino to San Marino Calcio; the change of name did not change the fortunes of the club as San Marino Calcio were relegated in the 1988–89 season after finishing 17th in the league.[2]LOCE 20/12/07: THIS SENTENCE APPEARS TO CONTRADICT THE ONE ABOVE
- How?
- The previous paragraph listed three consecutive promotions in as many seasons - it appears that the club was on roaring form. If thier fortunes hadn't changed they were on for a certain win - how is their relegation a continuation of their previous form? If anything their name-change marked a huge turning point. - Please note that there is not much coverge of sammariese football therefore sorces are very hard to find. And also that i am not a native of Italy, and i know very little of the language. Thank you very much for your comments. Sunderland06 07:59, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi Sunderland06 .. the informations in the article (and in particular in the history section) are correct (I've changed only a thing) .. it's a good article in my opinion. Finding sources is very difficult for this kind of article: only the official site and fans'site (only for "post millenium" section) can help you ;) Sorry, but i've not a lot of time for wiki .. bye SoloTitano —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.0.86.242 (talk) 13:10, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
