Many references to X of Y in category Z by business publications do not establish notability per WP:CORP. Significant coverage by third-party publications must be established to retain this article in Wikipedia. -- Brianhe (talk) 07:02, 9 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for adding to the discussion. This page currently has 6 references to large publications, 5 of which are from different sources. The number of citations are in line with other articles of similar scope and content on Wikipedia like zappos.com - 11 citations, 4 of which link to zappos.com, CSN Stores - 0 citations, Endless.com - 1 citation, Business.com - 14 citations, 4 of which link to business.com, NetShops - 7 citations, 1 of which is PR and 1 is Bizrate ratings and onlineshoes.com - 3 citations, 1 of which links back to onlineshoes.com. Do you have a specific number in mind of sources you would like to see or a particular source or type of source you would like to see a citation from? There needs to be independent coverage in reliable sources that address ATG Stores in some depth. Looking at the coverage as of 18:34, 9 June 2009 (UTC), we have:

  1. An article from the Puget Sound Business Journal. This source is fine.
  2. A press release. This can be used as a reference for uncontroversial facts, but does not establish notability as a self-published source.
  3. An entry in a top 500 growth list in Inc. magazine. The material here is very slim, and whether it helps establish notability is debatable.
  4. An article in Hardware Retailing. As it is a print source to which I don't have access, I cannot comment. I will note that the title of the article is "INDUSTRY NEWS: At a Glance" which would lead me to speculate that the material is not substantial.
  5. An entry in a top 500 growth list in Inc. magazine. Same as above but for a different year.

So as it stands, there is only one item of substance (excepting one that I cannot evaluate) that could be put forth to establish notability. This article needs more sourcing of substance to establish notability. Thank you everyone for helping make my article better. What is everyone’s thoughts on these articles and whether they add to the notability factor.

  3. http://www.internetretailer.com/dailyNews.asp?id=26268 - An article about expansion from Internet Retailer
  4. http://www.homelighting.com/magazine/pdf/46-54currents.pdf - An article from home lighting magazine

This next part is my opinion so I'm open to what other have to say about it. I agree with you on article 2. I thought I had removed all reference to PR publications. Apologies for my mistake. Articles 3 and 5 should be counted as one article not two. The information may be sparse in those articles but Inc. is a nationally recognized magazine and I feel it does register as a notable reference. On article 4 I don't have access to the article either. Another editor asked for a citation on this and this was the closest I could find. I may have gotten the title of the article wrong. I would like to nicely ask that everyone consider that ATG Stores is not a large company like Amazon.com ($10b sales) or even a Zappos.com ($1b sales). There are not going to be any articles in gigantic magazines like Time or Business Week.

COI Tag

In its present state, I think the article can have the notability and COI tags removed from the head of the article, and just wanted to bounce that off another editor. If no one objects, I will remove these flags later today. I've read over the article several times since yesterday, and think the tone of the article has been toned down well. I've boldly removed the COI tag sicne the material has been reviewed by neurtal editors (including me). As for notability, I'm statisfied that it clears that hurdle. Not by much, but enough in my opinion. -- Whpq (talk) 14:53, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
