Two small points. Glastonbury is referred to incorrectly as a 'city' in one place. Second, the comment about Evans being 'bipolar' should either be removed or substantiated. |

Geard surname
editThe Geard surname exists in several versions in Somerset: Geard, Guard, Gard. However Powys would have been familiar with a Montacute branch of the Geard family who were dedicated ardent Baptists, and quite involved in village life. Powys would have known that family well, given the status of his father as Vicar. It's no surprise that he used the surname in the novelOlddemdike (talk) 21:49, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
Montacute vs Glastonbury
editSomething to mull over, is that some of the old texts (sorry I don't have references to hand) suggest that Montacute may have been the site of Joseph of Arimathea's landing, the site of his burial, and where the Chalice is hidden. Given Powys's connection with Montacute, it makes the choice of subject matter even more interesting. He would have been in a good position to hear the village myths and legends and repurpose them to GlastonburyOlddemdike (talk) 21:59, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
