Kautilya3, the Banglapedia entry on the 1971 killing of Bengali intellectuals mentions:
The execution of the blue print was led by Brigadier Bashir, Lt Colonel Hejazi, Major Zahur, Major Aslam, Captain Nasir and Captain Qayyum under the overall guidance of Lt. General Ameer Abdullah Khan Niazi, commander of the Eastern Command of Pakistan army. The extreme right wing Islamist militia groups al-badr and al-shams executed the brutal killings, having been provided with arms and support by the Pakistan army.
Is Banglapedia talking about our subject? TrangaBellam (talk) 10:23, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
- Looks like it since we have confirmation that our subject served in the 1971 war as a Captain. TrangaBellam (talk) 10:33, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
- This book, edited by Ahmed Sharif, Shahriar Kabir, and Serajul Islam Choudhury,
goes into details of Qayyum's maneuversname-drops Qayyum as one of the main brains behind the targeted assassination of intellectuals in December. Besides, they describe an episode when Abdul Mannan — since convicted in independent Bangladesh as an Al-Badr collaborator — alluded to his rapport with Qayyum and Bashir to persuade Dr. Alim Chowdhury, a noted ophthalmologist, against fleeing from his house. When al-Badr eventually arrived to abduct him, Mannan remained incognito; his body would later be retrieved from the swamps of Rayer Bazaar. TrangaBellam (talk) 11:27, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

- I can also trace some information about Brig. Bashir (1, 2, 3, 4) and Lt. Col. Hejazi (3). Will create an article on the former. TrangaBellam (talk) 13:38, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
