This is a WP:QUICKFAIL based on criterion 3 (It has, or needs, cleanup banners that are unquestionably still valid. These include {{cleanup}}, {{POV}}, {{unreferenced}} or large numbers of {{citation needed}}, {{clarify}}, or similar tags.
) and criterion 1 (It is a long way from meeting any one of the six good article criteria
), specifically WP:GACR 2b (reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose)
). The current version has several uncited paragraphs. I'll add some maintenance tags to the article itself. TompaDompa (talk) 20:22, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

See what the criteria are and what they are not
1) Well-written
edit- 1a) the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct
- Some of the titles in Writings do not have english translations. It's not a big deal, so I won't fail the criterion over it but if you can translate them for me that would be great, because I don't read arabic.— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 20:20, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- 1b) it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation
- see above. — FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 20:20, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
2) Verifiable with no original research
edit- 2a) it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline
- 2b) reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose)
- 2c) it contains no original research

- 2d) it contains no copyright violations or plagiarism
- WP:EARWIG says 0.0% — FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 21:40, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
3) Broad in its coverage
edit- 3a) it addresses the main aspects of the topic
- 3b) it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style)
- no issues here!— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 20:16, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
4) Neutral:
edit- 4) Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each
- Still reading for neutrality, but so far the early life section borders on outright flattery regarding his intelligence. This will need fixing. More to come.— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 09:19, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- Fixed minor issues with legacy section. See above for issues with early life, which still require fixing. On hold until remediated.— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 20:12, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- I just changed some lines in the article to try to address the issues in the early life section. If you dont mind, can you please go through it again? I intend to continue improving it and would like more suggestions. Thanks. BlueSahelian (talk) 23:49, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- works for me. Pass— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 17:45, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

5) Stable:
edit- 5) Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute
- No vandalism, edit warring, or the like. Pass — FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 09:19, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- 6a) media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content
- no issues here, see 6b — FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 16:29, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- 6b) media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions
- Firstly, the picture in the Wazirin Sokoto section seems to me to be of limited relevance. What is your rationale for its inclusion? Secondly, what information can you give me about the artwork at the bottom of the page in the second photo in Writings? The image caption should ideally elaborate on the subject.— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 09:22, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- Fixed the second issue. Did some research, added source. Awaiting answer on the first.— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 17:39, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- First objection withdrawn— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 20:36, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Very sorry for the delay, I honestly wasnt checking the review. Ill try to be quicker next time.
- The picture showing the Jafi salute (the first picture) was meant to illustrate the salute Bello attempted to do. I couldn't find a better picture for the salute, so I settled with that one.
- I don't think there is a special significance to the artwork in the second picture. It was likely meant to just decorate the folio. Unfortunately, I have no source for this claim. BlueSahelian (talk) 02:41, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thats alright. I did dome research and it appears to be a type of decorative section marker common in hausa calligraphy. I added that info to the caption with a source — FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 03:09, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

- The subject lived relatively recently. Any extant photographs, or artworks depicting the subject that we could use for the infobox?— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 07:54, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- I highly doubt there is any image of him, and I dont think there is any art of him due to his religious beliefs. BlueSahelian (talk) 23:11, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- I was unaware that in Islam that Muslims other than the prophet Muhammad are unable to be depicted in art. Could you elaborate? This is just personal curiosity.— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 23:35, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah. But today, there is no real consensus on the matter. However, during his time, most Muslim scholars, particularly from Hausaland, saw it as Haram. I read somewhere (unfortunately i cant remember the source) that that is why Hausa architecture extensively makes use of patterns.
- I just found this wiki article relating to your question, if you are interested. BlueSahelian (talk) 00:06, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

Overall:
edit- See neutrality issues above. Other than that, it seems good. If you can translate the titles in Writings, please do. On hold until criterion 4 remediated.— FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 20:25, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Alright, will work on that. Thanks. BlueSahelian (talk) 22:07, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- All issues resolved, thanks for the translations, I spent 3 hours trying unsuccessfully to find answers on that. Pass — FenrisAureus ▲ (she/they) (talk) 17:47, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
