Still use cane syrup?

edit

I just got a bottle of Abita Root Beer in CA, and the label shows Cane Sugar on both the front label and the ingredient list. Yet I read here...

The company also produces Abita root beer, which is unique in being sweetened with raw cane syrup, as opposed to sugar or corn syrup. The company runs a brewpub in Abita Springs.

Is this still true? --Jake 04:38, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The brew pub is still in existance, I don't know about the syrup. -- Infrogmation 16:49, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pretty sure Cane Syrup is the first product produced from Sugar cane. It is then refined into Cane Sugar and then further bleached into regular old sugar. Troyag 18:10, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wow! This article is now part of THREE wiki projects! Pretty darn good for an article that was QUICK DELETED a mere two weeks ago for being "blatant spam"! ("I started the appeal of the deletion", Fish Man declares proudly!  ;) ) -Fish Man

Andygator

edit

Andygator is a Barley Wine, NOT a dopplebock. It is fermentedto over 10% alc, not distilled, which is why it's not classified as malt liquor. 68.114.122.229 (talk) 16:46, 19 February 2008 (UTC)SHReply

Not correct on either count. Now that Andygator is sold in bottles, we have the clearest statement from the brewery yet as to its type. The copy on the bottle states that Andygator is a "Dopple-Maibock". The bottle also lists it's alcohol content as 8% ABV, not 10%. 8% ABV is about average for a dopplebock. And, of course, it's not a Malt Liquor, where did that come from? Abita's web site has identified it as a Dopplebock since its inception, as has the copy on the beer menu in the Abita Brew pub. Turbo Dog

edit

One anonymous poster changed the type for "Turbo Dog" to "Porter". Abita's web site, as well as the printed copy on the bottle lable and 6-packs is unambiguous about Turbo Dog being an "English Style Brown Ale". This is the same type of brew as Newcastle Brown Ale, for example. Turbo Dog is on the dark side for a brown ale due to the deep roasted malts Abita uses in it. Sonny Day - Tour Master

edit

The "owners" field in the info box is not the place for a long list of company employees. Since Abita Brewing is owned by a corporation, the owner's field should contain the name of the corporation, and the name of one or two key executives ONLY. (Having the "head brewer", who works under the Brewmaster, listed here is borderline.

Here's a suggestion of a much better way to do it: Why not add a short paragraph to the body of the article describing how the brewery gives tours, and mentioning pertinent info about the tours such as the tour hours. In that section you could mention that the "Tour Master" is "Sonny Day" (if that is in fact accurate, if it is, it ought to be easily cite-able).

Thanks. Fish Man (talk) 16:23, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Picture

edit

The picture just takes up a lot of space and it seems like the article's layout would be better without it. Does anyone have any objections? I'll leave this up for a few days, and if nothing comes up, I'll temporarily take it down. If there were more content, it wouldn't push everything around so much either. Which picture, the brew pub or the beer glass? Note the thumbs can easily be made smaller. -- Infrogmation (talk) 05:50, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Either case, I see no reason to take down the pictures. Let's leave them there as they are. Sumori (talk) 16:13, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Agree with Sumori. Don't take down pictures. Tweak the formatting of the page or perhaps the size of the thumbnails if you want to make the page look cleaner, but there's no reason to delete anything. Fish Man (talk) 17:44, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
