NPOV in title
edit@Silveresc, @Alaexis I agree with Silveresc's recent edits (diff1, diff2]) that titles of 'Abkhazia–Georgia border' and 'Georgia–SO border' are not NPOV, since they clearly promote separatist and russian views and diminish view of the vast majority of the international community. Anything can be made controversial but in this case we have strong NPOV wiki-rule, which supports his edits. Ⴂ. ႡႠႪႠႾႠႻႤ★ 10:54, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- There are zero google hits for "Abkhazia Georgia separation line" and "Georgia Abkhazia separation line." We shouldn't invent terms per WP:OR. An administrative border is also a border, so I don't see NPOV issues with the title. Alaexis¿question? 11:52, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- There is no administrative border between Georgia and Abkhazia. There is administrative border between Abkhazian Autonomous Republic and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, both of which are part of Georgia. The title Abkhazia–Georgia border promotes separatist POV and thus violates WP:NPOV. There are only 6 countries which recognize Abkhazia as independent, absolute majority of countries in the world recognize Abkhazia as part of Georgia, therefore the idea that Abkhazia is a sovereign state and the current title fall under WP:FRINGE. - @Alaexis: there is option to rename the article Abkhazia–Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti administrative border Silveresc (talk) 19:14, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- You are right that de jure most of the world considers it an internal border within Georgia. De facto it's a border between two states. There is no Wikipedia policy to always use the former, we should rather use the most common name. In any case controversial name changes should go through WP:RM process. - "De facto it's a border between two states." who said so? who assesses the de facto situation? Maybe somewhere in Sokhumi abkhazs think that they have a state, but on the ground it's obvious that Abkhazia is a Russian-occupied puppet entity. --Ⴂ. ႡႠႪႠႾႠႻႤ★ 13:33, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
- At any rate, an move request should be opened for such a move. Alaexis¿question? 14:48, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
