Proposal for Improvement

edit

I plan on improving this article by adding sections including history of the abortion policies in Venezuela, movements for access to abortion, and exceptions to the law. I want to expand the article and its sources to cover most of the relevant information about abortion in Venezuela in greater depth. My plans in greater depth can be found on my user page, complete with references i plan to use in this article. Natsz72 (talk) 02:59, 5 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Peer Evaluation 1

Hi! I really enjoyed reading the article and the changes you have made! I thought you did a great job defining abortion, both generally and how it relates to Venezuela. I liked how you took a neutral tone throughout the article. I think your lead could be strengthened. I recommend you reword your first sentence and add some citations into your lead section. There are also some other sections that could use a citation. Additionally, I think it would be beneficial to add more information about abortion in your "Government & Economy" section. This will allow other readers to fully understand the influence and impact of the government on abortion in Venezuela. Lastly, there are a couple small errors, such as fixing "World War 1" to "World War I" and defining PDVSA, that can be easily fixed. Overall, I think the most important thing you could do to improve this article is to add more Venezuela-specific information to some of your sections. However, that being said, I know there is not a large number of scholarly sources out there on this topic. Great job and I look forward to reading the final product! Peer Evaluation 2

edit

I agree with everything Peer Evaluator 1 (PE1) said! You completely rewrote this article and made it your own, which is awesome. I really liked your economic crisis section because I didn't know the economy can have such a big impact on something seemingly unrelated like abortion. As PE1 said, I would like to explicitly read about the role the government played in abortion because it's still unclear the connection between government and abortion in Venezuela. I would also recommend finding at least five more scholarly articles, if possible, because I was only able to find ~5 in your references section. This will also help you reduce the number of statements that are attributed to just one source. I also agree with PE1 that your lead can be improved by including a summary of the article's main topics. In terms of grammar and formatting, there are a few minor grammar mistakes and some inconsistent "linking" to other articles. I've included the specifics of these in my full evaluation. In summary, I think the most important things you can do to improve the article are the following:

  • Lead – Add a summary of what your article covers in your lead
  • Content – Remember to tie all of your information back to your topic, especially in the “Government & Economy” section
  • Referencing – Add at least 5 more scholarly articles, if possible

Copyvios

edit

Hi @Diannaa:! Thank you for notifying me about the copyvio issues and I'm so sorry about them, there are many times where I still struggle to paraphrase content while remaining faithful to the source. I have attempted to include the contested content with improvements, namely in the "Legislation", "History" and "Access to contraceptives" sections (diff). I wanted to run Earwig's Copyvio Detector to further improve the text, but I'm aware that the issues are also related to structure, so I also wanted to ask ou about your thought on the latest additions to see if they were acceptable to include. Many thanks beforehand :) --NoonIcarus (talk) 16:16, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
