Latest date
editWhen is the latest date abortion can be made in NL? Article doesn't say. Somewhere in the 2nd trimester it seems? --Lussmu 18:47, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Limited to viability of the fetus (approx 24 weeks). For abortions on a fetus older than 13 weeks, a "second physician needs to be present in the hospital". (article 22 of the "Besluit afbreking zwangerschap".
Gap
editThere seems to be a gap between "controversial abortion law was passed in 1981 that left abortion a crime..." and "...abortion is allowed on demand at any point between conception and viability". Can someone who knows fill in the place where abortion was made legal on demand? As it stands, I'm confused! 06 02 07
~Abortion on demand made LEGAL? What country do you think this is about? Abortion is completely, utterly, totally forbidden in the Netherlands UNLESS it is as an absolute emergency, definition of absolute emergency is up to the pregnant lady. Which means that no resourceful, honest LAW-ABIDING woman in the Netherlands is legally allowed an abortion. If you are NOT absolute in honesty and observance of the law, it is effectively available on demand, you just have to claim it is an absolute emergency. So it is a case of a de-jure prohibition combined with a de-facto availability on demand for laymen, liars, lawbreakers and loosers.
- Bullshit. Don't go discussing stuff you don't know shit about. --217.120.69.19 (talk) 08:08, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- That's complete rubbish! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.123.230.102 (talk) 19:26, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Updated the page to take care of the issues which were mentioned.
editMade updates to take care of the failed verification because of a non-existing URL, and also to update the info that on June 21, 2022, Dutch parliamentarians approved a law to scrap a mandatory five-day reflection period before undergoing an abortion.
