Potential Addition

edit

While trying to find sources to account for his early political career, I may have found one dating 2015 which would be the oldest account for the article if included. The report seems to be discussing Somali politics (I think) when it mentions his full name, but the translation app I am using (Google) is having a really rough time translating it, and I don't think I could accurately discuss this in the article without a better translation. If anybody could decipher what this text means, it could provide for more information about his early political career, but as far as I know, it may not even be the right person. Still, I thought I should mention this just in case! link in question here Johnson524 (Talk!) 03:14, 6 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Excessive detail concern

edit

Hey @Pol098: if you have a moment, I wanted to hear your feedback on how I could potentially improve the page to remove the excessive detail tag you added. Would that involve deleting all of the meetings Huruse has conducted during his time in office? If so, that's unfortunate, but I'll do what I have to do. FWIW though, I did have a slightly more in-depth conversation with Tony1 not too long ago about the page if you care to read about it here, where he seemed to suggest the meetings were fine as-is. Whenever you have time to respond, I'd appreciate it 🙂 Cheers! Johnson524 08:53, 15 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

If anyone wants to check, the article as it stood recently is here; I unlinked countries per WP:OVERLINK, but didn't make any significant changes. I thing that the two very long 2022 and 2023 sections listing countries, dates, and references could sensibly be reduced to something like:

[[File:Abshir Omar Huruse international discussion map.png|thumb|Map of the individual countries Abshir Omar Huruse has conducted talks with as Foreign Minister of Somalia as of 7 April 2023]]

During his term as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Huruse conducted many meetings and talks with representatives of countries worldwide [I don't think that all the ocuntries listed can be described as Somalia's allies] from August 2022 to April 2023. As a representative of Somalia, he attended the Seventy-seventh session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.[1][2] During the generate debate which primarily took place from 20 to 26 September 2022, Huruse held his first meetings with fellow representatives from many countries. In 2023, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Huurse held further meeting with representatives of many countries.

He was a member of the delegation which reopened diplomatic relations with Cuba, which Somalia had not had since ties were ended in 1977,[3] and opened a conference of verification between Somalia and the East African Community (EAC) to assess the nation's ability to become a member of the EAC sometime in the future on 25 January.[4][5]
