Controversies

edit

I think a section needs to be added to include claims that he mutilated at least one dead ISIS fighter: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3214167/We-cut-like-shawarma-Gruesome-video-shows-Angel-Death-Iraqi-fighter-carving-flesh-charred-body-ISIS-fighter-burned-death.html Whitsun88 (talk) 07:32, 18 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Can people please understand a little about BLP/OR/NPOV before they accuse living people of war crimes and use words like "revenge","ruthless"&"gruesome" Spacecowboy420 (talk) 09:34, 21 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Until the editor involved manages to get himself on this talk page, I don't see much can be done, apart from reverting his edits. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 10:17, 21 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

War crimes allegations

edit

Number of sources, including Amnesty accuse this guy and his unit of war crimes. Sources are added and you can read them. Sources also contain video material. There is no reason to remove details and sources. Statements were written from the neutral point of view. Ferakp (talk) 19:11, 21 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Could you put the quote here from Amnesty International that accuses Abu Azrael and his unit of war crimes, please? I've read it briefly, and of course it was easy to find Amnesty saying that militias are responsible for war crimes, but I couldn't find anything specifically accusing Abu Azrael or his actual unit. thanks. I'm searching through all of those sources for mentions of war crimes, and so far the only mention that I've found are:
1. [1] - however, I have serious doubts about this meeting the criteria required of a reliable source. The whole website seems to be a collection of amateur sourced images/content, ie. it's a nicely collected/presented selection of blogs.
2. [2] In which one person accuses him of war crimes.
As per BLP, this is certainly not enough to degrade the image of a living person, with such serious accusations.
Saying that a video of him allegedly chopping up some ISIS moron appeared online, is fine. It's factual and not disputed.
Take a look at the GW Bush article, then look online and see how often someone accused him of war crimes. It's not in the article, because it would be undue weight and a major BLP issues.
Also, the line "acts of revenge" is so unsuitable for wikipedia. Are we now reading minds and giving our own opinions on the motivations of people for alleged acts? Spacecowboy420 (talk) 06:38, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
About war crimes, here is a source [3]. This source says and also there is tons of similar sources that his militia is accused of war crimes. Amnesty report about this milita: Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page). I can tell you that I can collect more than 100 sources where all are accusing him of different war crimes. However, I didn't mention all of them because the only point here is that people know that organizations and sources accusing him of war crimes, no need to tell about all war crimes, except that which almost all international newspapers published. If "acts of revenge" is not suitable, what should I use? He just sliced the victim? I used this because the people could know that there was "reason" why he decided to do so, he wasn't just ordinary psycho with axe. You can change it if you want. Remember that he himself said that in the video and that's why newspapers said that.Ferakp (talk) 18:33, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Take a look at the change I made. I tried to make it neutral, without hiding any of the things he did, or what people have said about it. It's always good to use a direct quote, if someone is accused of something. People can make their own mind up, based on facts, as to if he is a hero or a villain. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 10:19, 23 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I think it looks much better now. At least it is more neutral. Ferakp (talk) 12:05, 23 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
All is good now. Thanks. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 14:45, 23 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

What is a proof that he is "an Iraqi of Iranian descendcy"? He is tagged as an Iranian in the categories. He was born in Baghdad and lived his whole life in Iraq. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.220.72.109 (talk) 01:37, 16 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
