editI added a section on activities per country. It still needs to be inhabited. gidonb 01:17, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
The Helpful Hardware Club should be mentioned as well as the fact that it's going to be the Ace Rewards now. Not because it's of huge note, but more that it's current goings-on of the company maybe? I'm not confident enough to do this myself however. Someone else maybe? Ignore it all together? DeMyztikX 22:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
there are many other things that need to be mentioned. I will do some gathering of info. HeadOfMax 09:18, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
I did some work here, hope it helps, but IMO still has a long way to go. Any help is appreciated. I am uncomfortable with the Vision 21 section - thought about leaving it out (it WAS on the prior version), but I think it's relevant because it's an issue common in the co-op arena and is a notable effort to address it. Mdeaton 19:15, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Removed the Vision 21 heading, and I thinks it helps it to flow better, and doesn't create unnecessary confusion.Mdeaton 21:59, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- It is noteworthy that since I am involved in the ownership and operation of an Ace Hardware store, it is inappropriate for me to edit this article, so although I don't think there are POV problems, I am reverting my changes anyway since I can hardly be considered unbiased. My edits can still be found in the History, so if someone would like to use them to assist in a future revision, please feel free to do so.Mdeaton 16:42, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Please resist temptation to advertise
editThe "Retailers" section of this article is quite inappropriate for Wikipedia - all links to individually-owned commercial websites. Please remember that this is an encyclopedia, not a portal, forum, etc. The article should be about Ace Hardware the retailers' cooperative - its history, market position, statistics, etc. It is not a means to drive traffic to your store's for-profit website for free. ACO Hardware Split?
editI was wondering if it would be appropriate to mention the split-off of some Michigan stores to form ACO Hardware back in the early eighties? I remember this happening, but the only reference I've been able to find so far is this (very weak) reference: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_history_with_ACE_and_ACO_Hardware_Stores --Banksnld (talk) 18:41, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- The only reference I could find for that is here, and it says that there were only 2 stores purchased at the time. Gobonobo T C 21:57, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- If I remember right, the original change was just to add periods between the letters, e.g., A.C.E. But at some point Ace threatened legal action because it was confusing customers. That's when they changed the E to an O. 173.167.0.97 (talk) 21:22, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
"Ace" or "ACE"?
edit"Ace" or "ACE"? Please be consistent. The infobox says "ACE", but the article constantly uses "Ace". XP1 (talk) 01:19, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
biggest store
editBiggest hardware store I know is bauhaus in Frechen with about 30,000 sqm selling space. It only claims to be the biggest store in Europe. Horst Emscher (talk) 21:02, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Lawsuits
editSeems there are a lot of stories of lawsuits involving financial fraud from Ace. Ace Corp has been fudging the numbers to get people to sign up as Ace franchisers. Wanted to see if someone else has seen these stories and add something to the article. http://www.zimmreed.com/Ace-Hardware-Vision-21-Lawsuit/62393/ http://www.wjla.com/articles/2012/08/fischer-hardware-owners-lawsuit-can-go-forward-judge-rules-78932.html http://www.locallawfirms.com/news/business-law/ace-hardware-lawsuit.php and many others… 216.81.94.71 (talk) 14:31, 4 September 2012 (UTC) www.Wexlerwallace.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.19.136.68 (talk) 06:11, 28 December 2012 (UTC) http://www.wexlerwallace.com/cases/advanced-caregivers-llc-v-ace-hardware-corporation/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.19.136.68 (talk) 06:14, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

2017 True Value was offered for sale
edit- In July 2017 True Value was offered for sale, and competitor Ace Hardware (with about 5,000 locations) expressed interest in buying.[1][2]

Effects of boycott
editfeebleme (talk · contribs), I have (twice now) removed text you inserted, claiming that the boycott had an opposite effect. This claim is not supported by the reference you cited -- which does provide financial results for the relevant time period, but doesn't mention anything at all about the boycott, so the claim is your own speculative inference. That makes it original research, which by Wikipedia policy is not allowed...no matter how obviously correct you might think you are. The boycott may have coincided with a particular set of financial results, but correlation doesn't imply causation. There are all kinds of reasons why Ace Hardware might have had unusually positive financial results in any given time period. If a reliable source can be found to support an assertion that the boycott resulted in unusually positive financial results, then great, but until then, that claim cannot be made here. That's not "censorship" (as you claimed in your edit summary), it's just how this project works -- equally for you and I and everyone else.173.180.13.37 (talk) 01:23, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
