In my experience, at least, the resemblance to Hawthorn is not at all fanciful. I saw one of these in Montreal, and thought I was looking at a Hawthorn till I noticed the Maple keys. The leaves and branching habit looked exactly like a Hawthorn that grew next to my house in New England. kebec1 (talk) 21:45, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
