This is a good article and though I like the direction its taken, I was intentionally brief about Japanese maple's superficial resemblence to pot because this article is about the maple and not marijuana. Maybe we should identify a couple very easily recognizable characters and describe those, instead of talking about a large number of characters that people won't remember when they are trying to smoke a maple tree. Leaf Colour

My Japanese Maple had bright red leafs the first year and this year the leafs are green. Could the tree spikes that I use for fertilizer be causing this? Denis Laporte
