Fluoroacetate and fluorocitrate

edit

There should be mention made of the effects of theses toxic fluorides on aconitase. 134.250.31.124 18:29, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

There now is mention in the 'Function' section, but it says "Fluoroacetate, in the citric acid cycle, can innocently enter as fluorocitrate. However, aconitase cannot bind this substrate and thus the citric acid cycle is halted." In contrast, the page on Sodium fluoroacetate says "Fluorocitrate binds very tightly to aconitase, thereby halting the citric acid cycle", which seems more likely as an explanation. Isocitrate diagram

edit

The carboxylic acid is deprotonated in isocitric acid and the diagram incorrectly shows it protonated. Also, why does the first diagram show citric acid, when the molecule in the reaction is citrate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.65.120.20 (talk) 09:39, August 28, 2007 (UTC)

fluoroacetate

edit

The enzyme is not blocked by fluoroacetate but by fluorocitrate!--Stone (talk) 08:21, 9 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mechanism

edit

The enzyme mechanism is incorrect, the first step doesn't make any sense and is not proposed by either of the references. 198.109.220.2 (talk) 15:07, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Still not correct. Hichris (talk) 15:59, 27 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
