Cominate?
edit"the absorption cominates," Does anyone know what the author was trying to say here? It is in the "Model Gain Medium" section. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.216.63.82 (talk) 04:22, 10 April 2007 (UTC).
- I just corrected it to "the absorption dominates". Does it look better? dima 13:59, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
For the Wd equation, surely σ as should be σ ep?
Laser gain medium energy tradeoff
editBased on conservation of energy, the reader may rightly expect that any gain observed in the output of a laser amplification medium must come with an energy price, but the present version of the article does not contain any explanatory description along these lines. In fact, the present version of the article does not even mention conservation of energy. A reader should not be misled to believe that a crystal is a magic energy source. This article does provide some explanation. Would an expert kindly provide some content in this article to explain the energy tradeoff involved in the laser amplification described in the article? Move?
editPerhaps we should move this article to gain medium, as the more common name. Any thoughts?-- Srleffler (talk) 20:06, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
