Alcohol Section

edit

The majority of the first paragraph of the alcohol section seems out of Wikipedia guidelines to me. Many opinions are presented, not backed up with sources, such as:

  • "Alcohol is a tough issue in Ada."
  • "The city government ... prevents clubs and pool halls from [selling alcohol] in the interest of public safety; they believe that those who drink at clubs and pool halls might be more inclined to drive home." (I would say those venues are heavily watched by police, but they are not preventing them from serving alcohol.)
  • "An anonymous city council member stated that..." (Do anonymous quotes have any place in an encyclopedia article?)

Who keeps removing the references to Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz? Like it or not it is forever part of Ada. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.209.179.170 (talk) 21:22, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Section removed

edit

The section involving drug and alcohol abuse has been removed. The section contained no credible sources (no sources at all), and was a deliberate attempt to hurt the reputation of Ada, Oklahoma.

I was surprised to see referenes in the lead paragraph to interesting programs with no supplementing information. I've added a link about the Oklahoma Main Street City program to the external links at end, but this is a far from ideal solution. Could someone please take on making a wikipedia page about that program?

I also clarified that the Certified City status is an Oklahoma program and not a national program. The best external link for that that I was able to find easily is http://www.okcommerce.gov/index.php?option=com_pressreleases&Itemid=528&id=253 but I did not add that to external links because it's not even clear that Ada is on that list.

Somebody please take these two references on and make new, internally-linked pages. Peter (talk) 16:59, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notable Individuals

edit

The list of notable people should be either resorted alphabetically, or by date. Ron Williamson should not be at the bottom. Im sorry people of Ada, it is part of your history, stop trying to cover it up.

Notable people without citations

I question these as I cannot corroborate them. Okheric (talk) 20:27, 26 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Cities/US_Guideline#Infrastructure It says:

The purpose is to describe the settlement as a geographic entity and space. Describe how the settlement exists in the larger region (for example, port on a river, harbor on a sea, agricultural community in the prairies, village in the mountains, suburb of city). The settlement as a geographic space is illustrated best with a map but can be explained by detailing the layout of the transportation infrastructure, neighborhoods, types of residential areas in relation to commercial or industrial spaces, etc.

AND

===Transportation=== Include:

  1. Highways (federal and state), street layout (if notable)

The information is notable.
