Source on 5 pass scheme?
edit- Header added. —Nils von Barth (nbarth) (talk) 00:05, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Comment by Plugwash moved from the article page:
- source and info on 5 pass scheme?
Adam Costello's original e-mail suggesting the 7-pass scheme mentions the 5-pass scheme. The e-mail can be found in the png-list archives for January 1995 (gzipped text file). If you want more information on the 5-pass scheme you could try asking Lee Daniel Crocker himself. --Zundark 20:19, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks! I’ve added a ref in the page.

face example
editCurrently the face example is shown scaled in the article, this makes it difficult to see the behaviour of the algorithm in later passes. Really such an example image should be generated the size it is to be displayed at so it looks like a real adam7 image of that size would. Also the description of such an image should describe what if any interpolation algorithm is used. Plugwash (talk) 11:33, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- Anyone up to this? :) Mayhaymate (talk) 16:10, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
It doesn't even appear to do interpolation correctly. I expected the 8x8 pixel block to be filled like this after the second pass, but frame 4 of the animation looks like this. It's only updating a quarter of each 8x8 block?
