I have a question: According to the last paragraph, Pharmaceutical Therapy, "administration of adiponectin" to "mice models" has shown "positive effects when treated with adiponectin". What mouse models were used and what positive effects were found ?

Function in regulating adipocyte number?

This is pure speculation, but it sounds as though it might function as a regulator of adipocyte number by inhibiting preadipocyte recruitment. That's the only thing I can think of offhand that makes sense for a hormone secreted by adipocytes and preadipocytes that decreases in obesity. If so, it would be particularly interesting to see how adiponectin expression varies at the stages of development when most of the preadipocytes are recruited. --Dan Wylie-Sears 2 (talk) 10:42, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Spell out alternative-name acronyms?

It makes for a rather cluttered introductory sentence if we spell them out there, but it's generally good to spell out acronyms. I'll leave it as is for now, but GBP28 stands for gelatin-binding protein 28 [1], APM1 stands for adipose most abundant transcript 1 [2], and Acrp30 stands for adipocyte complement-related protein of 30 kDa [3]. --24.63.27.226 (talk) 18:38, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Bisphenol-A and?

I actually came to this page hoping for an explanation on the effects of Bisphenol-A on the release of adiponectin. There was a study published in Environ Health Perspect. in 2008 ("Bisphenol A at environmentally relevant doses inhibits adiponectin release from human adipose tissue explants and adipocytes") that might be usefully mentioned here, but I don't feel that I have the expertise to summarize the original article properly. Dodecamers?

The article says adiponectin occurs as dodecamers, whereas Adiponectin and cardiovascular health: an update says, "Adiponectin is secreted from adipocytes into the bloodstream as three oligomeric complexes, including trimer, hexamer and high molecular weight (HMW) multimer comprising at least 18 monomers (Magkos and Sidossis, 2007)". 3D molecule not so good?

Hi, as I open the 3D molecule with JSmol there is an absolutely flat molecule, there is no correct angle in the molecule. Can this be changed? So, if you open it, the right structure and position of the atoms are automatically shown? Regards, BirgitLachner (talk) 13:00, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
