no other article about adjacency pairs currently exists on wikipedia. this is simply meant to be a short definition of the term in my own words. i have also made additions following your recommendations —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiptheyip (talkcontribs) 19:49, 29 April 2007

I hereby second the assertion that the article satisfies wikipedia's notability policy. Oliverbeatson.talk.cont 23:36, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think that adjacency pairs come under the subject "conversation analysis", rather than under "pragmatics". (Possibly it can come under the subject "pragmatics" as well, I am not sure. I don't have a clear definition of "pragmatics".) I think this article is good, as far as it goes, but I'd like to see it expanded. 88.96.117.238 (talk) 23:24, 27 July 2011 (UTC) Martin Sondergaard.Reply

I plan on editing this article for my linguistic anthropology class at American University. Some sources that I have come across and intend to implement into my additions to this article are cited below.

I am also working on this page for my class at American University. I noticed that this page does not contain any references. I plan to add references and more summarizing info to the introductory paragraph, as well as to add a section on the history of adjacency pairs and a section on preferred/dis-preferred adjacency pairs.Ylils (talk) 23:36, 15 February 2019 (UTC) I added the Schelgoff and Sacks reference to the first paragraph, added a usage paragraph, and added a paragraph on three-part interchanges. I plan to bulk up the introductory paragraph more in the future.Ylils (talk) 00:10, 22 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
