Requested move 14 August 2026

[edit]

– Aegae is more commonly referred to Aegae/Aigai of Macedon Aetolorhode (talk) 23:08, 14 August 2026 (UTC)  Relisting. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 00:09, 22 August 2026 (UTC)  Relisting. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 00:47, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Note: the second proposal, "Aegae (Macedonia)Aegae", conflicted with the move request at Talk:Aegae (Macedonia) and had to be removed from this request. P.I. Ellsworth, ed.  welcome!  15:42, 15 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Procedural close. We would only move the disambiguation page to "Aegae (disambiguation)" if we thought there was a primary topic. The nominator seems to be arguing that the primary topic is Aegae (Macedonia), but their proposal at Talk:Aegae (Macedonia) to move that page to "Aigai" was recently closed as "No consensus". As my comment in that disussion makes clear, I believe that the Macedonian Aegae is in fact the primary topic, but this isn't the time or place to rehash that discussion. To editor Michael Aurel: what if the second proposal, which was removed, were to be restored to this request? P.I. Ellsworth, ed.  welcome!  17:55, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Paine Ellsworth: I wouldn't say it affects my stance, as both proposals boil down to whether there's a primary topic (and the only Aegae that could reasonably be considered primary is the Macedonian one). I can't see that starting a second, essentially identical requested move on a different talk page while your first one is ongoing is appropriate, especially with a lacklustre rationale that supplies no new insights or evidence. But if yourself and others feel that this proposal is in fact legitimate, let me make lucid that I'm very much in support of the move itself. For my reasoning, refer to my comment in the first requested move. Michael Aurel (talk) 15:10, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think that if supporters of Aegae and Aigai are counted together in the previous request for Aigai, there is majority over those who do not consider the Macedonian Aegae primary topic. I consider both Aigai or Aegae better than Aegae (Macedonia). Aetolorhode (talk) 15:47, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Relisting comment: I'd like to see that question answered. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 00:47, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
The second proposal has been restored, this date. From now, this proposal should last another seven days minimum. P.I. Ellsworth, ed.  welcome!  17:37, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
