A minor change: As given in Nasa.gov Report on 'AIM-Launch' "Drop and Launch", there were small details differnt from the previously published plans:
"Air-Launched Pegasus Sends AIM on Its Way
After a flawless countdown and flight, NASA's AIM spacecraft began its two-year mission to study Earth's highest clouds. The 430-pound satellite's ride into orbit was provided by a Pegasus XL rocket. Built by Orbital Sciences, the Pegasus is a unique vehicle that begins its flight secured to the underbelly of a modified L-1011 passenger jet known as the "Stargazer." Once the L-1011 reached an altitude of 39,000 feet, the Pegasus was released for its 10-minute powered flight into space".
Another point more interesting about significant changes brought about to Mesosphere: 1. whatever caused NLC around 1884 to 1910 is open for speculation (Halley Comet, Krakatao-Volcano, Tunguskai-Meteorite etc). Since 1981 there have been announced <1> significant Water-Immissions <2>, which have been mentioned especially in Space New Scientist <3> after the inquest about "Columbias last flight". Here the amounts have been quantified as "375 tons of Water-Vapor", calculated as "20% of the Total Water in the New Noctilucent Clouds of the Mesosphere". 2. For all information found hitherto, there is Vacuum 1 mb at about 40 km height increasing to 0.001 mb at about 100 km, i.e. 1/1000 to 1/1Mio of the vapor-Pressure one would find at sea level. This means, that the Volume taken up by vapor visible at 0°C at sealevel containing 6g H2O per m³ will expand from 1 cm³ in the Mesosphere to 1 m³, or from 1 m³ to 1 Million m³. 3. The thermal gradient is extremely interesting, as constant thermal layers can only be formed in spaces without turbulences. And the fact of such pointed extremes, reported like "rising from Stratopause - 80°C to +3.5°C then falling again to nearly -100° C and again rising into Iono / Exosphere from about 0°C near 100 km-level to the thermal ambiente of ISS & Shuttle which I could not find precisely given in official NASA-papers, but any temperature between 50°C and 200°C appeares deducable from the Scales found <4>. 4. As Photolysis is known to be induced by UV-Light, but also strong Electro-Fields (known from Isotope-Destillation in vertically standing coned glass-tubes, causing evaporation and fractionated destillation, leaving the heavy 2D and 18O behind, enriched in the Destillate <5> there cannot permanently any H2O come by the Stratopause from below. Only H+ and O+, their electrons removed into the spheric Global Field-generating Battery above the Stratosphere. 5. Ozone-layers must be multiple: at least three according to their isotopes-
the heaviest 18O3 (250 ppm of Oxygen,) the intermediate 17O3 (39 ppm of Oxygen) and
the commonest lightweight Isotope 16O3 as 99,756%. Via Solar wind there will arrive in a short time's interval from the Solar Fusion-Reactor in yet safe distance of 150 Million km some still "reactive" Protons, and also Neutrons (10.9 min Halflife, before turning by decay into reactive protons), also all organic stable and instable Isotopes and a fleet of about 20 common transitional daughter-products will be available in the stellar-dust and as falling through the Van Allen Belt, entrapped by the Polar Magnetic fields visible in the Aurorae near South- and Northpoles, and preselected to the Hemispheres as different with their spin. Energy-rich reactions allowing Ozone-formation at any ambient temperature, spallations producing Tritium and 14C as well as 13C since ages and aeons. Also due to the Solar wind and the Global Magnetic Field there will be specifically spin-different Water and Air-Molecules accumulating near the poles, naturally. 6. The Gases in the Mesosphere are existing there in absolute water-free surrounding (secured by freeze-dried air on either side, above and below). There are Gases translucent as highly iononized Anhydrides of Nitrous and Nitric Acids, Vacuum- and deep-freeze-protected and the Ozonosphere as triple Layer intermediate with the Nitrogen-Oxides at critical Parameters like NO, N2O, NO2, N2O3, N2O4, N2O5 and N2O6. There are Layers according to specific gravity, as natural lack of turbulences allows. The Layers are naturally only disturbed by some pin-point-Disturbances like Meteorites, which explode at a transient velocity of 9 000 m/sec at a height between 100 and 35 km because of ambient forced Hydrogen-extraction causing instant corrosive embrittlement (and burnup in the Hydrogen-flame of the spark with Acid-Ahydrids) 7. These laminated stratified layers in the thermally distinct areas are the precondition for both the stabilization of the normal Function by specific gravity and for the potent charges of ions of the Spheric Global Field-Battery. These Forces which permanently can sustain an updrifting atmospheric electric gradient of several giga Volt and Ampere from 30 km height to sealevel(10 kV/m at Stratosphere) which can carry the Water in Clouds around the Globe at ease by Charge-differences. 8.The Translucency is only garanteed by stability of thermal layers and dryness of the Anhydrid Gases at their critical triple-points. Any Water added to the Mesosphere f.i. as anthropogen Tipping-Elements, Exhausts, Condens or Wastes will cause exothermic fumigation, boiling-points of gases in local aerosols will cause local instability of Translucency and altered electric Capacity. These local Immission will cause wavelike lateral energy-transmissions with chain-reactions of chemical background on the gases, suddenly turning from N2O6 to NO2 and N2O and HNO3 and CNO, until a new equilibrium is reached. Net-like foamy bubbling appears as changing pattern, with extremes near the Pole, where Acid rain will be as common as Hydrogen-Peroxide admixtures together with Nitric Acid and Sulfuric acid admixtures, causing photo-luminiscence with lateral energy-transfer causing lightning-like electric discharges, to be covered by black large spot on NOAAs Pole Observing Satellite-pictures. At the Southpole, where it is more difficult and expensive to do the exploration of the cause, now an Acid Lake "Untersee" below the Ice has been spotted < >. Something similar is to be expected when NOAA's blind spot < > is scrutinized, which might be done in shorter Time and at lesser cost. 9. The repeated thermally polluting Immissions by Hot Plasma-Plumes of Shuttles' and Soyouz-Progress etc. powerful Thrusters not only bring HNO3-containing Condens-Water forcefully propulsed down to allow for outward and upward displacing as inflight-orbital Corrections of the 500 tons mass (of ISS-mated with Shuttle and new heavy instrumentation) at 7770 m/s speed. The propulsive Thrust of Shuttles Engine, producing a demonstrated Fire-beam of ca 250 m at sealevel<Nasa-Pix>,in the ambient Vacuum of Space above Stratosphere will certainly reach down to disturb the isolating and function procuring dry layers of the Stratopause and Tropopause, causing Ozone-Displacement and Nitrified Acid Rain. And procuring the 3-5 °C necessary change to the fumigating temperatures for previously (at critical temp.points) translucent Nitrous Anhydrides. 10. As given in the WO-PHYS-Papers of 1980 by NASA-Deputee Hindman-jr.(Clermont-Ferrand, Sur La Physique des Nuages,15.-17.Juli 1980)all Shuttle's Solid Booster Rockets'Propulsive Force has been brought forward by Ammonium-Per-Chlorate (NH4ClO5), katalysed by Aluminium-Powder + Al2O3 and Burning-Protractor as PCB, at each start 2x 730 tons are burnt up within 102 seconds (up to 100km height)and the exhausts deposited in the Mesosphere on flight northward over the Atlantic. Latest during the next orbit the Shuttle's 1000 m³ Liquid Hydrogen- and Oxygen Rocket will have deposited the named 375 tons of Condensated Exhaust-Water from its Plume into the Mesosphere. That Plume was shown to drift within 4 days to the Southpole (as stated in Space New Scientist 2005), and the metallic dust as nano-layer on nitrous aerosols can be shown to produce an effective brown-grey-filter, like in sun-protecting Windscreens and Windowpanes.
