Last item needs improvement

edit

The last bullet item currently (4/23/08) on the page reads:

  • "Affirmation" also has various meanings within the domains of personal development, popular psychology, alternative health and supplicatory prayer.

This text is not helpful to the disambiguation page for several reasons:

  1. provides no links to any relevant articles.
  2. groups too many separate topics into a single line.
  3. uses vague term "various meanings" providing no help for the reader.
  4. uses possibly derisive term "popular psychology" (pop psychology) instead of simply "psychology".
  5. uses possibly derisive term "alternative health" instead of simply "health".
  6. uses erroneous term "supplicatory prayer" instead of simply "prayer".
supplication (begging/humbling) is contradictory to any concept of affirmation (claiming/asserting).

These disambiguations do need to be included, but this bullet item as currently written needs to be expanded into several valid and NPOV disambiguation links. -- Low Sea (talk) 08:12, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you should look at the article Affirmation before someone turned it into a redirect. It was a clutter of unsourced ideas. If there were reliably-sourced WP articles for these ideas, then proper disambiguation would be possible. Perhaps you could start with a good article on Affirmation in Prayer? Vernon White . . . I've been slowly (as time permits) working on an article for "Affirmative Prayer". Long way to go. The hard part is finding non-primary sources for the subject matter. Most secondary sources only contain discussions on prayer-in-general with not enough detail on the difference of this particular form of prayer.

In the meantime I have removed the problematic terminology (bullets 4,5,6 above). -- Low Sea (talk) 16:05, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
