--Duck gone?--

edit

I heard they were getting rid of the duck. If anyone has a link to this please post it. thanks. TiffanyMarsh

Are you sure it is a duck and not a goose? (Apparently a comment by 67.170.176.219

Aflac has repeatedly stated (both in the commercials themselves and in other places -- including their official Web site) that it's a duck. That's good enough for me. --Nlu 06:12, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Flippity floppity floo!

edit

Yes, it is a duck but judging by the voice it is not a male duck. It is female. Female ducks quack loudly so to be heard by the ducklings. Male ducks have a voice that sounds more like a whisper.

Look at the beaks. The Aflac duck is definitely a duck. --Evice 02:22, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ducks don't have beaks, they are called bills.

The duck's voice in the USA is provided by comedian Gilbert Gottfried, so it seems kinda silly to argue over the gender of the duck's voice, doesn't it? I added a link in External Links to the site's video player so you can watch both the most recent US commericals and a series of the Japanese commericals so you can compare voices. The Japanese duck also has a different personality.LiPollis 17:15, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

What does Aflac do?

edit

This article doesn't explain what Aflac actually does. I only have a vague understanding of Aflac and what its company actually does.

The part of the page that *does* explain what the company does sounds like it came from the company's own PR sheets.

  • The part of the wiki article that starts "For more than 50 years, Aflac products have given policyholders the opportunity to direct cash"... seems to be their standard PR blurb, for example at [1] , so I'll remove it from this article due to licensing.

Perhaps the best solution is to ask about it at work? Or rather, I doubt I'm the only one was equally mystified by the company when in their earlier days of advertising they relied heavily on this phrasing. I suggest that perhaps this ought to be added in to the article as well, if possible, as well as the rationale for why they never said exactly what they did. 67.169.74.129 (talk) 13:56, 26 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Aflac-new-logo.png

edit

Image:Aflac-new-logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 15:55, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jim Henson's Creature Shop

edit

Jim Henson's Creature Shop says on their very own page that they made an Aflac duck that "has been used in dozens of American and Japanese commercials, web spots and magazine ads for Aflac Insurance". If you want to delete this claim again, please cite a source that says otherwise. Hairhorn (talk) 15:49, 13 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

User:Correctomatic insists on reverting all references to Jim Henson's Creature Shop, despite sourcing. The latest edit complains the the page cited is a "phony". The page cited is http://www.creatureshop.com/aflac.php, on the official site of the Creature Shop. If you don't believe the site is geniune, please consult the WHOIS information where it is clearly linked to henson.com, The Jim Henson Company, and the same street address as the Creature Shop. Please provide sources for any futher reverts. Thanks. Hairhorn (talk) 18:36, 13 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Aflac duck section

edit

On the section the aflac duck, it shows that Melania Trump is the current first lady of the US. This must be changed as Jill Biden is the current first lady, not Melania. It needs to show that Melania Trump is the "former" first lady. Metric Supporter 89 (talk) 04:54, 22 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
