Afon-wen or Afonwen
editThe article is listed under Afon-wen but, having lived there for most of my childhood the only written form I was aware of was Afonwen. Is there a reason that the article is preferentially listed with the form Afon-wen? ChemConnector (talk) 16:51, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- Afon-wen is the orthography according to the Welsh Language Commissioner's Guidelines for Standardizing Place-names in Wales. See in particular section 4.ii):
- So the change from the Afonwen of your childhood to the modern Afon-wen appears to be the result of a standardisation of Welsh spelling. Physchim62 (talk) 01:45, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- While that may be the reason Physchim62 I have not been able to find any other examples of Wikipedia where names have been standardized in this way. Can you locate any? ChemConnector (talk) 06:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Citation Needed for Moel-Y-Parc
editThe article for Afon-Wen requests a citation for the reference to Moel-y-parc and its geography I believe, specifically that it overlooks the village. The article on Moel-y-parc should suffice or is the challenge the referencing within Wikipedia? See [[1]] ChemConnector (talk) 16:51, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
