Unspecified source for Image:Afric Simone.jpg
editI found Image:Afric Simone.jpg and noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Someone will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If it was obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If there are other files on this page, consider checking that they have specified their source and are tagged properly, too. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:55, 28 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fair use rationale for Image:Afric Simone.jpg
editImage:Afric Simone.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Birthyear and more biographical data
editCome on, guys. Who told you his birthyear was 1956 and not 1945? There is no way he is 18 or 19 in those Hafanana videos from back in the day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.186.208.42 (talk) 05:55, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
True! In reality his birth was on 10 october 1939: this is a very good source: http://www.glp.at/artist/afric-simone. If you look at his hit Ramaya from 1975, it's very obvious that he was not 19 at that time.
Also, he was a star in South America with Barracuda before he became a star in Western Europe mid-seventies. He celebrated his 75th birthday on a cruise ship in 2014.
I suspect that his French manager Eddie Barclay changed his age and data of birth to fit his new image as a happy clownish guy - kind of a racist branding. But Afric played it very well, being so talented and having a lot of experience in all musical styles. His time as a star in South America - i expect - was erased from his bio to fit his new age of birth. He couldn't possibly have risen from his humble youth in mozambique, risen to local fame there, become a star in south america, gone to london and europe before age 19. In reality he was already 36 when he scored the hit ramaya! You can see the lines in his face in the video's from 1975. So he is now actually 82.
There's certainly some racism in the way his act was shaped; in the Dutch Toppop video of Ramaya one of the Dutch deejays (Krijn Torringa) actually imitates a monkey. Very embarassing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFJ1HWMc5sk.
The song Hafanana actually is about all people being equal, black and white, rich or poor, suggesting that after death everyone will be the same - so take it easy, don't think you're better: hafanana. He explains this in this recent interview and says he is still happy to perform if he is asked; corona put things to a standstill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OI46elIVSN4. It is written that his vitality at this old age might be the result of him having a treatment by a shaman in Yakutsk in the 90's when he was performing there...he should live healthy and vital until his 100th. its all in here: http://www.glp.at/artist/afric-simone
Another source for more details about his early youth, but he is kind of lying about his year of birth: https://www.indico-lam.com/en/2021/08/09/afric-simone-from-xipamanine-to-the-world/
the real order of events must have been: rising to local stardom in mozambique. being discoverd by a south african manager, who helped him to produce the first singles. one of these eventually became a big hit in south america, so he went there. and after that they went to london to make the jump to europe. he recorded his european hits in berlin and got a passport in germany and settled there in the end. he still lives in berlin with his third wife.
His native language is not Swahili. Its Guitonga from Inhambane. Also is not Swahili ,it's KiSwahili. KiSwahili is from the north part of Mozambique and Henriques was born in the South.
