Do you have any plans to expand the sub-articles? If they are only going to contain points (which isn't explained clearly) and other finalists, it would make more sense to incorporate the info into the existing table. --Ytny (talk) 18:10, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately I don't see many ways of improving the sub-articles, apart from expanding the list of winners, where info is available and adding some minor information, which is something I can do. If everyone believes it would be better to expand the original article, instead of keeping sub-articles, I can do that as well. --BanRay (talk)

It would be best to keep it all in one article. The details could be under a separate heading or of they only contain 3 or 4 lines, perhaps in the main table itself. --Deon Steyn 07:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

I think something like FIFA World Player of the Year#List of male winners would work fine for this article. There are only 3 finalists, and I don't think the points are that important. Ytny (talk) 08:16, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Recommend reorganizing Category:African_Footballer_of_the_Year

Category:African_Footballer_of_the_Year currently consists of stub articles for each year. I think it would be better to add this category to each player's page. The stub articles will need to be kept around for point totals and information on who gave the award, particularly for years where more than one set of awards were given. Merged 1980 African Footballer of the Year through 2006 African Footballer of the Year. All are redirects now.

One bit of info was left out, from the 2006 article, that «Nigerian left-back Taye Taiwo won the African Young Player of the Year award». There are more in past years (don't know which). Should it become a new section here? Or a new article? Or be forgotten?

The category looks a bit strange now with just this article there. Nominate for deletion? Or can it be used on the winning players?

I'll nominate {{AFY}}, used in the by-year articles, for deletion.

Canon Yaoundé

Roger Milla never played with Canon Yaoundé but in 1976 he became African Footballer of the Year with Tonnerre Yaoundé team.
