- Excuse me, but this seems like an ill-posed technical move request. "Striped ground squirrel" is a dab page with three entries on it. What should happen to the dab page? Is Xerus erythropus the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "Striped ground squirrel"? —BarrelProof (talk) 20:36, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'd have said, yes, it's the primary topic. At least it has a citation to back it up; neither of the other articles linked from the dab page even mention it as possible alternative name for the animals they refer to, and there's no citation at the dab page itself, either. Ictidomys tridecemlineatus is more commonly known as the "thirteen-lined ground squirrel", so that's unlikely to be the primary topic (although ghits do imply it's a common alternative meaning in the US). Both citations currently in this article use "striped ground squirrel" for this species alone, and give different names for I. tridecemlineatus. Google searches imply that, to the extent that Lariscus even has a common name, it's either "Asian striped ground squirrel" or "Malaysian ground squirrel", neither of which is quite the same. I can't find any evidence whatever that "striped ground squirrel", without the "Asian" qualifier, is really an alternative name for that. Anaxial (talk) 21:51, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
- Weak oppose It's unfortunate that a common name won't fit here, but given the available evidence, it's ambiguous whether a reader searching for "Striped ground squirrel" wants this species in particular or the group described at Lariscus. Although for what it's worth, the thirteen-lined ground squirrel seems like a spurious inclusion on the dab, so perhaps this could be a WP:TWODABS situation. --BDD (talk) 19:56, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. Google Scholar hits imply that Ictidomys tridecemlineatus is quite commonly called the "striped ground squirrel"—and also that this species is very commonly called just Xerus erythropus. Ucucha (talk) 11:33, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Euxerus erythropus → Striped ground squirrel – move species page to the most widespread common name; the disambiguation page for "striped ground squirrel" can surely be renamed something else Geekgecko (talk) 05:03, 17 August 2021 (UTC) — Relisting. - @Geekgecko and No such user: queried move request Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:45, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Geekgecko: With the dab page at the base title and apparently multiple species with the same name, this is surely not an "uncontroversial technical request". Please open a regular RM. No such user (talk) 08:49, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- How about moving this to "African striped ground squirrel"? Several (https://escholarship.org/uc/item/82w1s04f) other (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/230368159_Use_of_space_by_the_African_Striped_Ground_Squirrel_Xerus_erythropus) scientific papers (https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/09670879009371477?needAccess=true&journalCode=ttpm19) also make use of this name. This geographic signifier is common in other species that have similar names throughout the world (i.e. American gray flycatcher, American cliff swallow). I could also move to "West African ground squirrel" or "Geoffroy's ground squirrel" but those don't seem to be as frequently used as "striped ground squirrel".Geekgecko (talk) 15:20, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose. Not the primary topic: [1]. DrKay (talk) 16:47, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
- Second Relist: The nominator had proposed several alternatives, including African striped ground squirrel, West African ground squirrel, and Geoffroy's ground squirrel. Further discussion considering these alternative titles would be helpful. --Jack Frost (talk) 11:45, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
