POV/Press Release

edit

Parts of this article seem to me to read more like a promotion piece than an encylcopedia article. For example: "Africare creates an environment where children are educated and nurtured, families have adequate food, shelter, clothing, and health care, natural resources are protected, women are empowered, people are healthy, and communities live peaceably." Some of the text is copied from Africare's website (http://www.africare.org).

In addition, the entire section "How to Help Africa" is a personal essay, not an encyclopedia article.

For these reasons I am nominating this article for a POV review. —Eve Teschlemacher 20:56, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I removed the section mentioned above, but MUCH more culling is needed. This is a press release, not an encyclopedia entry. That said, this is a real, notable organisation. The article needs to be shortened, all the stuff about how great they are needs to be toned down/removed, and independent verifiable citations need to be found.
