Talk:Against the Current (band)

Contested deletion

edit

This page should not be speedily deleted because... fans of ATC searching the band's Wikipedia page and there's none of it and. It was their request, not mine so don't delete this --ChrisDuCharme (talk) 02:06, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

It was a very poor decision on Wikipedia's account to delete the original article. I have been working a fan site on Against the Current and have been gathering a lot of information from them. I have credible sources that can improve the article and address the issues.

I feel that the original article should be reinstated so that I can address the issues and make the article better. If not I can add to this one. I'm heading to bed now so I won't be able to update the article, address the issues or provide proper citations tonight.

@Tokyogirl79: That's what I originally told them however I believe the deleted article at Against the Current (band) has more content than this so I figured perhaps Juliancolton might want to restore that to draft. @ChrisDuCharme: Either way, the subject of this article must meet WP:BAND, or it will not be accepted. Simply recreating what was there at the time of deletion is not enough, because there is consensus that the band at that time did not meet those guidelines. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 08:54, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Tokyogirl79 Never really edited pages or participated in talk on wikipedia before so not really sure how to quote / directly reply. But I would like a chance to edit the draft and realize I can't just recreate what was already there. The original article had a lot more information than this one so it would be great if it could be moved into the draft space. There are many sources were I can get added information for the racial on Against the Current (band) and meet the requirements. They have had press coverage and interviews by major media sources such as "Fuse", "Rocksound Magazine", "AP - Alternative Press Magazine", "Glamour Kills" and "Kerrang! Magazine". Also "Alter The Press" and "Musicology Online" if they are acceptable sources.

I would agree with you prior to April that Against the Current couldn't meet the NBand guidelines, but they have been picking up some major press coverage as of late and not just by trivial blogs and self promoted sites.

I thinking geven a couple days to really dig into the sources, and edit a proper article I could create a draft worthy of approval.

Going through WP:Band I am pretty sure I can get this article to pass #1 if 5 or so sources are acceptable for "Multiple - Non Trivial". #4 is iffy but I think once the gravity world tour kicks off they may gain enough non trivial coverage to pass this guideline in a month or twos time. As for #12, what is considered substantial? Would appearing on a TV show and performing a song live be considered acceptable? If so based on YouTube captures of a couple TV appearances, I could credit the Network, TV Show and date of appearance on a couple appearances.

In any case I'm going to hold off on eating this draft for a day or two incase the original article gets moved over here. When it does, or if it doesn't within a few days I'm going to start editing this draft and add as much information and citations as I can. I want to take my time with this edit and get it right. I want to be able to submit something for approval that will 100% make the cut and not run the risk of deletion.

  • Sure, I won't stand in the way. Deleted article restored to here, though I agree that the article needs a major overhaul before it can be reinstated in the mainspace. "A sizeable YouTube following" as your chief claim to notability is hardly reassuring... – Juliancolton | Talk 15:06, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Some coverage

edit

Their Asian tour is getting some coverage:

(though attempting a Google News search gets some unrelated things like "Defending against the current generation of macro malware".)
